All About Lily Chou-Chou

The film portrays the problematic lives of teenage students for whom the enigmatic singer Lily Chou-Chou’s dreamy music is the only way to escape an alienating, violent and insensitive society. Hoshino and Hasumi, the two timid boys in middle school who are regularly confronted with bullying become fast friends and bond over their love for Lily Chou-Chou. Everything is changed forever, however, after Hoshino almost drowns during summer vacation.
